One of the primary goals for Compassionate-Cooking.com is education and a big piece of that is going to be telling stories about people whose lives have been positively impacted by some of the recipes and concepts presented on this site. We have a few stories lined up but they’re not quite yet done. Either the photos haven’t been taken or we haven’t been able to agree on quotes or something. We’ll spare you the details and just say we should have some material up on this page for you soon! And if you want to contribute something from your own life, we’d love to hear it… Thanks!
In the mean time, here are some quotes, some from friends of Compassionate Cooking, others that we just like, presented in no particular order…
I recently met a woman at the funeral for a friend who died of cancer. We started talking and she told me that she’d had a brain tumor and was in remission after several ‘aggressive’ rounds of chemotherapy and repeated radiation therapy. I had to ask — had she used medical cannabis during her treatment? She was quite clear in her response: ‘Without pot I would be dead. The effects of the chemo were terrible and it gave me the will to go on with treatment. In my case it really saved my life.’— A Friend in San Francisco, CA
The first time I used medical cannabis for a migraine I found the worst aspects were bypassed. Traditional meds tend to put me in a fog and only mask some of the pain and nausea. Medical cannabis sidesteps all of the worst issues if I catch the migraine just as it’s starting. Timing is everything, but this makes an incredible difference for me.— Migraine Sufferer
I started taking medical cannabis cookies long before my disease advanced to the point where chemotherapy was required. By using medical marijuana I was able to stay off the doctor prescribed pain meds for a number of months. It made all the difference for me.— Battling Cancer and Chemo
I had chronic pain that Vicodin could not touch. One day a friend gave me a pot brownie and suggested I take it for pain. I found the affects of cannabis lessened my pain far more than Vicodin ever had. Having discovered medical cannabis as a pain medication allowed me to not have to rely on Vicodin again.— A Lyme Disease Sufferer
The side effects of Ambian are severe and scary. On Ambian I would forget large chunks of my evening and there seemed to be nothing the doctor could do to help me with this. Since I started using medical cannabis tinctures before going to bed I am now able to sleep the night through and wake up rested and never groggy. Medical cannabis helps me relax and calms me.— A Chronic Insomniac
I took an oath to do no harm. If a doctor is willing to give you a prescription for a drug that is addictive or could kill you, then why should you not be able to choose a non-toxic drug like cannabis?— Dr. Marian (Mollie) Fry
I would challenge any politicians to look any person in the eye, who has intolerable symptoms, and say, ‘We know there is something that might work for you, but we are not going to make it legal.’— AMA President Dr. Kerryn Phelps (1999)
